Thoughtful local action, significant global impact
Sustainable practices encompass everything we do, from water conservation to supporting local artisans. So, you can be confident that your stay contributes positively to the environment and the community.
Locality
Our story is rooted in the community – where locality isn’t just a concept, but the essence of our existence. And it begins with the people of AlUla. By collaborating with local artisans, vendors, and cultural organizations, we weave the vibrant tapestry of the community into the experience of every guest. From sourcing local materials to collaborating with local artists, celebrating local traditions through events to partnering with local farmers, and even using cleaning agents from a company that produces locally and is Green Key Certified – every step strengthens our bond with the community.
Waste
Our pledge extends to conscious living. We tackle waste head-on, from plastics to metals, collaborating with Saudi Arabian vendors for effective recycling and reduction measures. In our kitchens, the fight against food waste is a priority, aligning our operations with the ethos of resource efficiency – using an on-site food digester to turn unavoidable food waste into liquid. We also use an automated food waste measurement system to assist kitchen teams in identifying types of food that’s wasted, helping us to produce less to begin with.
Amenities
Feel the essence of our sustainable commitment in the simplest of amenities at Dar Tantora The House Hotel. From locally handcrafted clay water jars that keep water naturally cool, to eco-friendly amenities that are free from single-use plastic – each element is designed to reduce waste and enhance your experience.
Light and air
The magic of Dar Tantora The House Hotel is illuminated in the glow of dimmed, natural lighting and flickering candlelight, creating a milieu of mystery and expectation. Our candlelight and oil wick lamps further reduce our energy usage, and our use of natural building materials act as a natural insulator. Our traditional homes, a testament to age-old wisdom, naturally regulate temperatures, thanks to the ingenious use of controlled air currents and thermal insulation.
